Youth Art Board is Hyde Park Art Center's program for dedicated South Side high school students. This group meets for 30 total weeks throughout the academic year, 10 weeks in Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. Youth Art Board develops group projects, curates exhibitions, and represents the Art Center at public events. Youth Art Board is designed to challenge young people to connect with art exhibitions, programming, as well as important people and places from around the city of Chicago....All this, and it's fun!
Teens who are accepted into this program are paid a quarterly stipend for their work and participation. Attendance and active participation is a large part of this program, so if accepted, YAB members must work with parents and school schedules to plan ahead and participate responsibly. Youth Art Board members must be currently enrolled in a south side high school, in good standing with the school, and able to adhere to the program attendance policy (cannot miss more than 1 meeting per quarter).
