If you are a teen who's into art making, this program is for you. ArtShop is a tuition-free, independent projects program designed for South Side high school artists (grades 9-12). Check out images from the 2015 Collective Possibilites exhibition to see some of our ArtShop teens and artworks. This program requires teens to complete an application form (below). Applicants are asked to present a vision for what they will work on. How many pieces will you be aiming to complete? How long will your video be? What supplies will you require? How would you like the final project to look? These questions help you spell out what you would like to work on, while helping Art Center Teaching Artists prepare for your participation. Attendance and active participation are a large part of this program, so if accepted, ArtShop artists must work with parents and school schedules to plan ahead and participate responsibly.

Artshop 2016-2017 • Fridays 4:30-6:30pm
Fall, Winter, Spring Quarters
10 weeks each quarter - 30 weeks total
October 7, 2016 - December 16, 2015 (Fall) January 13, 2017 - March 24, 2017 (Winter) April 7, 2017 - June 9, 2017 (Spring)
ArtShop students will have access to the following studios at the Art Center: Drawing, Painting, Digital, Photo Darkroom, Silkscreen, Printmaking, Ceramics, and Mixed Media. In addition, students will have a supply stipend to purchase materials with the help of Art Center staff. Finally, the ArtShop teaching team, alums (who are in college), and education staff all work to help ArtShop teens make the most of their time in this program, and finish the year with a strong exhibition and better understanding of what it means to be a contemporary artist.
