New Residency Models: National & International Artist Exchanges
In 2015, Hyde Park Art Center and Houston's Project Row Houses launch a first-time collaboration titled the 2:2:2 Exchange, which features an interchange between two artists, one based in Houston, TX, and one based in Chicago, IL. Through this residency exchange, Project Row Houses and Hyde Park Art Center aimed to provide an opportunity for artists to research localized ways of thinking and creating in a different city to enhance their practices at home.
Expanding on that model, collaborative exchanges have become a key aspect of the Jackman Goldwasser Residency. Our 2017 roster of artists will see three separate artists exchanges, once again with Project Row Houses but also with centers in France and Israel. Hyde Park Art Center hopes these endeavors not only expand the idea of how a residency can operate, but also create and grow international networks for Chicago artists around the globe.
